If so we need you :-)

The Covid19 pandemic presented unprecedented challenges for everyone and for many young people restricted to learning from home, this experience was very stressful. Not all young people were able to be supported with their learning at home because parents/carers may have been out working on the front line, trying to work from home themselves or may just not have been confident about assisting young people with school work. There are many reasons that learning from home has been very difficult for some young people and families – what ever the reason we want to be able to help.
We have all witnessed the wonderful community spirit as people continue to navigate their way through this situation - there has been an outpouring of kindness and generosity and volunteers have shone bright as always.
This is an opportunity to make a big difference to a young person’s ability to get back on track, feeling supported and more confident about not being behind with their schoolwork.
In this context Wangaratta Digital Hub is seeking to identify retired teachers or teachers who have some time available, who would be willing to volunteer for a minimum of one hour* per week as volunteer tutors for young people catching up after the lockdown.
* Times will be negotiated to suit your availability.
The Covid19 You would not be expected to prepare lessons - this is more of a friendly supportive role, assisting the young person to complete tasks set by their schools and encouraging them.
You will be matched with a student needing support in your expert subject area.
If you have further questions, please contact us at the Wangaratta Digital Hub by phone or email.

have retired in the past 10 years or are still working but have some time available
have reasonable computer literacy and access to a computer or device connected to the internet. (Tutoring will be via Zoom and technical support can be provided by the Wangaratta Digital Hub.)
are willing to commit to a minimum of one hour per week for a minimum of four weeks ( the four catch ups can be spaced out to suit availability)
hold a current Working with Children’s Check or are willing to apply for one (its free for volunteers)
We are particularly seeking secondary teachers but may need more primary teachers too.
Live anywhere in Victoria as tutoring will all be online.
